Towing anyone?

Discussion for all pilot types

Hello.Just a couple of freindly comments for NewJ visitors to prevent complaints or unwanted attention being drawn to our activities there. I am not an organizer of this event. The following are just some of my experiences and observations from flying mosquitos and towing there in the past. Any other comment or recomendations from NewJ users are welcome.
If you have not been to NewJerusalem, there are no services there. You may want to bring water, hat, sunscreen.
I was told that this airport was bult around the time of WWII and later given to the city of Tracy (who still owns it I believe) but all the surrounding property is privately farmed. I believe the runway is 3500 feet long.
There are two parallel runways with taxiways. The runway to the east has an overhead shade structure used by an RC club which has an outhouse nearby. The RC club lets us use this but they have asked us to drive slowly through the area. We might want to be polite to them of course.
New Jerusalem is used by general avitation pilots for practice landings an takeoffs. For instance, last Saturday about 3 small planes visited during the day for brief periods, so we want to watch out for our motorized friends. Diev may want to comment with more instructions on this issue.
Sidenote: Sunday there were a couple of super aerobatic pilots using New J for operations for a time. The wind was blowing straight down the runway from the NW at a steady 25 with 35mph gusts. A big pilot with a Russian accent was pouring a quart of oil into his engine while I asked him if he was going to use the taxiway at all. He said "no we don't use that", got in and took off downwind using a short amount of the strip. Cool.
Please drive slow on the dirt roads while entering and exiting the area since raising dust upsets locals.
Flying low around residences in mosquitos resulted in the Sherrif visiting us once.
The center median has some type of planted crop growing in it now so we may not want to drive over it.
The weather is looking promising and I hope everyone has a great time.

Thanks for the notes Dan...
Yes this is a public uncontrolled runway so we will have some more GA traffic I'm sure. We will have a GA radio to monitor/talk to incoming traffic and let them know of our operations.
And yes there is an aerobatics box out there for the planes to play in and I will point it out to pilots when they get out there(in meeting).
I would also like to hold a tentative pilots meeting Sat morning around 9am (depending on the clinic and weather), just to go over all this on the spot.
Do bring water/lunch/sunscreen/hats etc etc as there really is nothing out there but the runway. (there are a few stores a few miles away though).
About the taxi way, some planes do like to use it depending on how busy the place is so we will want to follow the rules on where we all can park and setup our gliders (I'll go over this more in the pilots meeting).
With the rain maybe coming Sunday I really home you all are out there early Sat as we could get rained out Sunday and just have the one day to play.
I'll post something later about he AT Clinic (on the other thread).

No rain Diev. I gaurantee it. :)

NOAA discussion for the BA as of 2:30 pm.
HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT IS THEN PROGGED TO REBUILD OVER THE EASTERN
PACIFIC ON FRIDAY FOR WARMER TEMPERATURES BY SATURDAY. A DEEP UPPER
LEVEL LOW IS THEN FORECAST TO MOVE SOUTHWARD FROM THE GULF OF
ALASKA TOWARDS THE WEST COAST LATE SUNDAY FOR RAIN CHANCES BEGINNING
BY EARLY NEXT WEEK. THE LATEST RUN OF THE GFS SPREADS RAIN CHANCES
INTO OUR AREA LATE SUNDAY NIGHT AS THE UPPER LOW TRACKS TOWARDS THE

I will request a NOTAM for the dates Gregg is here. Aerobatic practice between Tracy airport and New J. Will be active.

If you have never aerotowed. Come and see the west coast pilots prepare for comps. or just fun. Or.....See you at Wallaby! Due to circumstances.

Weather is showing a High Wind Advisory for the Tracy area with high gusts until late tonight. Forecast for tomorrow shows "Northwest winds up to 10 mph with gusts to around 25 mph."

Does this forecast affect operations at New J tomorrow?

Can you be hung over from hg flying? I'm just in from packing up all of the gear we had left setup over night. A huge thanks to all of the pilots who came out and joined us this weekend. The fun, stories, friendships and flights that took place. Well, I can go on and on!!!! I will add this. All of the mindsets and approaches to flight, were in attendance and representing. All n All, all flights were successful and safe?

Gregg Minolli (can't say thankyou enough) did an excellent job aero towing. showing all facets of skill, safety, judgment, preparedness, and outstanding professionalism.

Thanks again to-

Can't seem to see any video at the link:

it just redirects back to some kind of generic page.
