Great Snakes!

Postby Karl_A » Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:48 pm

Great Snakes! - W. C. Fields as Larsen E. Whipsnade in You Can’t Cheat an Honest Man (1939).

There was a pretty substantial rattlesnake in the parking lot by the Ed levin LZ today (Monday 4/26/10), about 3 feet long, 2 inches diameter, half a dozen rattles. It's not there any more but it probably isn't the only rattlesnake in the park, so keep an eye out.

Here is another 'snake in the LZ' 8/14/12

Proof...right HERE...

Mike Owens had stepped into this truck, then a few minutes later, decided to open his door to stretch out his leg that he had tweaked while landing...upon opening the door, he heard a rattle and our Little Friend was where he was in this picture...which means...our Little Friend was not toooooo far away when Mike hopped into his truck in the first place...be careful...our Little Friend was relocated to the nice tall grass of the LZ... :o

Sunday 5/1/16 More Snakes

Snake alarm in the setup area for the tower launch turned out to be for a non rattlesnake type snake. It was persuaded to move along to where no one was setting up a glider, becoming the proverbial snake in the grass. As I was packing up after flying - everyone else had already left - I found a real rattlesnake in the parking lot about 10 feet from the entrance to the LZ. It was 15 3/8 inches long, 3 rattles and not only merely dead, but really most sincerely dead. It looked like it was hiding just behind a tire and got run over when that vehicle left. I didn't hear anyone mention anything about a snake so maybe no one saw it.

Is that the starter solenoid buzzing because the battery is nearly dead?
