Towing anyone?

Towing anyone?

Postby diev on Sat Mar 21, 2009 10:51 pm

Greg (a tug pilot with trike setup) will be in the bay area soon and I'm wondering who else wants to tow?
I know it is a bit short notice but worth a try right?
All you AT rated (and anyone else interested in aerotowing) pilots respond here with how many tows you would do...@ say $25 to 2500agl

Diev,
This sounds like a good time. I am inerested in participating. I guess it depends on when and where.

I would consider depending on where and when also. I have never done AT but have done tow in Hollister. Not sure if the skills are transferable.

Hi Diev,

I will be away the next 3 weeks, as of tomorrow afternoon.
I am guessing you will need the cart.
Come over and get it tonight if you do,
It needs some welding on the forks still.
Remember if teaching AT to non-AT rated pilots
you should have a AT - instructor there.
It is different enough from static towing to warrant that.
Safety is my primary concern.
Dallas is in town this weekend if you need to grab his ear.

Cheers, Ben. back April15.

Diev,
Still looking to get my AT rating as well, let me know if this is the opportunity and I'll be good for 3 or 4 tows.

I'm interested as well and in the same boat as Ryan and Marcelo, non-AT rated. Good for a solid 4 or 5 flights.
I don't know if it's a valid option but, there's a light airstrip atop Empire Grade in Santa Cruz County I've always dreamt of aero-towing from. :D

Hello Diev & Greg,

I'm in for a day of towing as well.

I will be at WWDD09 March 28 thru April 6.

Should be coming back with Areo-Tow Rating :D :D

Thanks Diev for setting this up!!

I talked to Greg some more last night and he is ready :-)), he should be here in the bay area this week and will stick around for a couple weeks.
How does the weekend of April 4th, 5th look for you all? (we will watch the weather of course)
The only way you non rated AT pilots could tow is if you/we pool together and get an AT instructor out there.....I know Greg only wants AT rated pilots on his line.....
BUT don't let this stop you from coming out if you really want to learn to tow as this doesn't happen very often....
