Great Flights

Eric Froelich flew 1 ½ hrs at Mission today.
Gary Princeau and Eric Carlson flew Dunlap.
Wayne Michelson launched at Diablo and flew out Blackhawk Ridge with
Ben Dunn; made it almost to Pacheco Pass; landed near Lawrence Livermore Labs and was accosted by lab security.
Kevin Dutt flew from Diablo to Mission.
Eric Froelich went to a fly-in at Reno and flew the Hot Springs site.

Treasurer's Report : Don Herrick

Income from dues is coming in. Some big expenses are coming up, including grading of the road at Mission.

Flight Director's Report : Pat Denevan

There were 2 recent incidents at Fort Funston. One pilot, a recent H3 who got his rating in Las Vegas, landed downwind. He broke vertebrae in his neck and damaged his glider. Another pilot hit the phone booth.

have been awaiting processing for some time. Wayne Michelson made a list of members who have not had their renewals processed.

Mission Ridge : Roy Spencer

There have been some good days this spring. A pilot landed downwind of the tree line south of the LZ. It is best to fly a landing approach upwind of the trees.

Mount Diablo : Mark Grubbs

There were 4 X-C flights in 3 different directions this past weekend. The weather station is working.

Coyote Lake : Jim Woodward

Coyote creek is almost low enough to allow access to the launch. The identity of the PG pilot who flew last month is still not known.

Goat /Wild Ass : Wayne Michelson

Not much to report.

Old Business

The X-C contest is underway. Gerry Pesavento has updated the website.
The windtalker at Ed Levin is working, according to Stan Boehm. He has been working on the windtalker installation to make it more reliable. Mark Grubbs has been investigating commercially available windtalkers; the ones currently available cost about $3000. Dan Pifco and Peter Wenn are working on a distributed weather reporting system. The anemometers on the windtalkers tend to require regular replacement.

Phyl Hamby has contacted a contractor
about grading of the Ed Levin road. He was quoted $6800 to do the job. Grading will require a water truck due to the dry weather. Phyl thinks the Parks Dept may be willing to share the cost.
Apparel can be embroidered with a WOR logo by Zazzle. There is a setup fee per design and a fee per item. Mark Mullholland mentioned a possible cheaper vendor, named Micheal Burgonte. Zazzle can also do printed designs. Check out Zazzle.com and search on Wings of Rogallo.
The WOR picnic is planned for April 26th. There will be a spot landing contest. Members who plan to attend should sign up to bring side dishes.

New Business

A fly-in in planned for May 10-11 at Cerro Gordo. Eric Frolich has been trying to contact Mike Patterson, the owner of the resort.
The Marina Steeplechase and Wind Festival is planned for May 10-11. There is a $25 entry fee that includes a barbeque.
Entertainment was a presentation by Carmela Moreno on items we should carry in our harnesses.
